Ron FrederiksenClick on picture to enlarge Ron Frederiksen’s last 30 years.... Graduated from CWU, 1974 with a degree in Journalism. Thought the business guys were “geeks”. The last two years of college joined Air Force ROTC. I decided to become an airline pilot. CWU students thought I was a “geek”. (Short hair and 1973 didn’t go together.) 1975 attended USAF pilot training, then instructor pilot school. Flew the T-38, the advanced supersonic trainer for several years. Learned that I wasn’t cut out for the airlines, the government, or big business. 1975, married. Two children- Aaron, born the day Mt St Helens erupted in 1980, and Lia, born in 1983. Both are great kids. 1979 while in the AF, got my MBA. The business majors were looking pretty smart. (I still had short hair. ) 1980 left the AF to join RSV Construction, my parents commercial construction business “for a year or so”. They wanted me to set up their business control systems and then I was going to move on. Over the next several years, decided that I was a business person first, and that running a small business is the same, no matter what business you are in. So I stayed and bought the company in 1989. Now I wish I knew what the business majors knew. (Hair thinning rapidly.) After 18 years, divorced. The best explanation I can give is “temporary insanity” and believing in marriage, even with the wrong person. (Hair really falling out in clumps... ) The business has prospered and is blessed in a million ways. I have passion for what I do and am exactly where I am supposed to be. Every day I am excited to go to work and I find my work fulfilling and satisfying. In 1993 I married the greatest woman in the world, Terry Murphy. She is truly the partner I always dreamed of. Terry owns her own business, Design Showroom. She has 8 employees and is hugely successful. Terry has two sons so when we blended the families, we had four kids and two businesses. (What hair?) I am in a wonderful place in life. God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. My wife, our children, our friends, our families and our businesses bring joy to our lives. But the most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life is my marriage to Terry. (Plus... she loves the almost bald look! ) |
