Rhonda B. (Roni) (Owen) GibsonHi everyone! After graduation from River, I went to Clark College for two years plus I worked three jobs to pay for it. I graduated in 1972 with my degree in Automotive Service. Unfortunately I was unable to find a job in this field (every dealership just laughed and said you want to do what?) That was discouraging. I also got married Sept. 12, 1972 to my present husband, Michael Gibson. We spent 23 years in the Navy and successfully raised two daughters. We have lived in San Diego, Ca., Fallon, Nv., Bremerton, Wa., and Middletown, R.I. We have traveled to Mexico, most states in the U.S. and Hong Kong and mainland China. In addition to being a full time wife and mother or domestic engineer, I've worked several jobs both paid and volunteer over the years. I have been a preschool teacher, Girl Scout Leader, gas attendant, host, bartender, President of a Navy Spouse Organization, PTA Treasurer for four years, Booster President, Stewardship Commissioner, Teachers Aide, Audiology Assistant, and an insurance underwriter until I became disabled from a connective tissue disease. We are now living in the house I grew up in as we bought it from my parents. Mike is the Assistant Program Director of Veterans Affairs at Clark College. Our oldest daughter, Heather, graduated from WSU and got married in August to a wonderful young man, William McDonald. Our youngest daughter, Lela graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle Pennsylvania. She worked in Pennsylvania then Alabama and has moved back to Vancouver and is working for EOC of Clark County. I really enjoy my family, my spiritual family and being a representative for God, and having small successes in coping with the challenge of this disease on my life. I hope many of you will contact me so we can pray for each other and correspond. God Bless you all! Rhonda B. (Roni) (Owen) Gibson |
