Diane & John BrennanI thought I would finally sit down and take a few minutes
to update you (and others) on what
John and I have been doing since we last met. We moved to Pennsylvania
about 9 years ago from St. Louis, MO. We have thoroughly enjoyed living
here. We live next to a state park with a large lake where we go out in
our canoe when we have time. John started running several years ago and has run
four marathons, including New York, Philadelphia (2) and Washington, D.C.
I try to run too, but have never even considered 26.2 miles! My distance
is more like 3 - 6 miles, thank you very much. Our oldest daughter, Melissa, just graduated from
Georgetown and has spent the summer in Germany, Austria, Italy, etc. She
is a German major and was recruited by Georgetown to stay and earn her Masters
degree. Of course, once we heard they were paying, we were all for it!
Molly is almost 15 and will be entering high school next year. She has
been quite active in sports and is a wonderful soccer player. John was only
slightly disappointed that she wasn't as taken with basketball as he had hoped,
despite her towering over many of her friends. Her high school has won the
state championship two years running which may have intimidated her just a
little! John works from our house some days and other days he is up
in New York City or in New Jersey or Baltimore or whereever he needs to be.
A hip injury has sidelined him from working out (and playing golf), but he
should be back in time for the reunion golf game. I keep trying to get him
to take the Yoga class that I teach, but so far he's just not interested (go
figure!). During the days, I work as a School Psychologist both in private
practice and for a local school district. (I love having summer off!) I
will be embarking on my doctorate this coming year, which will probably take me
the rest of my life As you can tell, we are just two very typical, (boring to
our children), 47-year-old kids doing the best that we can and enjoying every
minute of it! Can't wait to see you all. Diane (Stovall) and John Brennan From January, 2001After graduation from college, we married in 1974 and both
started working and living in Clatskanie, Oregon. We bought a house in St.
Helens, Oregon shortly after that (which we still own and rent out) where our
first daughter, Melissa, was born in 1978. We moved back to Vancouver
where our second daughter, Molly, was born in 1985. When Molly was 2, we
moved to St. Louis with John's job. We loved St. Louis, but were only
there for 3 years when his job again moved him, this time to Pennsylvania.
Diane had been home with the girls for a few years and was now ready to go back
to school. She finished her Masters degree and received her School
Psychologist certification in 1995 and has been working in public schools and
private practice since that time. John changed jobs in 1999 and travels
frequently up and down the east coast. He and a friend have started an
additional business venture which is very exciting to them both. Diane
went back to school in January, 2001 to begin work on her doctorate in School
Psychology. Our daughter, Melissa, now 22, is working on her Masters'
degree at Georgetown and having quite a good time in Washington, DC. She
works for Hadasa Lieberman (Senator Lieberman's wife) as an assistant part-time
which has been very exciting for her. Molly is 15 and in high school.
She just passed a rigorous course to be a soccer referee, after being a player
for many years. She will be taking drivers' ed next year and then,
of course, driving. As much as we dread going through that again, it will
be nice to allow her to drive herself to her many activities. Our lives
are so wonderfully normal and comfortable that we are truly blessed.
John and I had so much fun at our reunion this past summer! We look
forward to our next one. In the meantime, anyone who wishes to can reach
