Jan Mitcham Beebe

I married some 23 years ago a deep sea diver/mechanical engineer. (Purdue)We met in Seattle when the oil rig was in the Harbor.  I should have known then I'd end up in Houston.   I still miss the N.W. but have grown to like the sweat  of summer and the balmy weather of winter here.  ( I sat out in the sun today here (70's)

I did get a degree(BA in English)from U of W. and worked at KOMO TV in Seattle before marriage and travel and baby/ies put wrenches in all of it.  I did begin Real Estate in Seattle however and was doing fine till we moved.

We have lived in Houston since 1982.  I have a daughter, who is nearly six feet tall blonde and blue eyed and looks nothing like me.  Strangers thought I was the babysitter when she was a baby.  Now everyone is just amazed.    She is a freshman in college and is much more together than I was at that age.  Thank God!

I have a son, 7th grader who is a hoot and we all adore.  He is artistic and smart and funny and a Boyscout and is totally into Girls at the moment...holding their books ransom for kisses.  Umm, I can hardly wait for what is to come.  Most of the Moms and Dads of his class mates are 10 years younger so I am under great pressure to stay looking young which as we all know, is a challenge.

My husband, owns his own company which is deep-sea high-tech engineering for the oil companies.  They do consultant work for all the big ones (Shell, BP, Chevron etc) and are developing new equipment that is smaller, better and cheaper than everything else out there.  The company is in its infancy stage.  Everything is harder and more complicated than it seems but they just secured their first patent.  We have had great times however.

Such as when we were in London to live with family from 1996 to 1998.  We all loved London and made fast friends that are now scattered throughout the country.   One of my favorites just moved to Houston so we are walking and working out together regularly.

I have travelled the world since marriage as my husband's work took him often away from home.  It is great for awhile and then one does get sick of hotels and restaurant meals and being away from their own bed.

I am a real estate Broker working for a high end company.  I am trying to get fairly established  again (I've done this part before).... before I break out as an independent.   It is a way to make money for the other things. (I kind of like it sometimes though)

I love orchids, yoga, walking, my friends and book group.  (I'm in two). I am not traveling at all now except for family visits which is odd but life changes make us grow.

I  do have a few books to write and more miles to travel.  I expect, God willing, to accomplish it all.

Love, Jan Mitcham Beebe
